Island Placement
Some
materials are quite expensive or need to be placed in specific locations
on a product. An example of this is a transdermal patch in which the
active ingredient is costly and needed only in the center of the patch.
With island placement, one layer is die cut and transfered
to a second web that acts as a carrier. The ratio of the speed of the
top layer to the carrier will determine the spacing between parts.
Complex parts can be built up with this technology. CRC's
modular equipment gives us the flexibility to take advantage of these
possibilities.
